ICS Advising
Our ICS Advising Team is ready to help in POST 303. Our academic advisors are Kenny Ka‘aiakamanu-Quibilan and Marilou Matsuura. You can contact Kenny at kennydq@hawaii.edu and Marilou at marylou4@hawaii.edu, or schedule an appointment with them through your STAR Balance account.
ICS Peer Advisors
Our advising staff also includes a group of peer advisors. We have four peer advisors that are responsible for providing academic advising by last names. We also have two peer advisors that meet solely with freshman and sophomore standing ICS students.

Student Academic Success Center
The ICS Advising Team collaborates directly with the College of Natural Sciences Student Academic Success Center. The Student Academic Success Center provides a list of other advisors for the BS in Computer Science and the BA in Information and Computer Sciences and provided drop-in advising for ICS students. You may schedule an appointment with any academic advisor through your STAR Balance account, or by calling 808-956-5911, or by sending email to cnsadvis@hawaii.edu.
Tutoring Resources
The Learning Emporium is a facility staffed by student peer tutors and volunteer faculty members who can help with assignments and difficult concepts in computer science. Tutors for ICS 111, 141, 211, and 241 in particular are available. The Academic Resource Center (ARC) also provides tutoring for various subjects on campus. ARC also provides academic coaching where students can meet with a coach to work on things such as time management and studying skills. Furthermore, we also encourage students to utilize office hours and classroom Discords for academic assistance.
Getting Involved
In addition to academics, we encourage ICS students to get involved and make the most of their college journey. Check out our amazing student-led organizations as means of building your network and exploring career pathways in ICS. The Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship also provides opportunities for students to develop their professional skills and entrepreneur spirit. Interested in research? Check out the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and the various Groups and Labs ran by our ICS faculty.
Internships
The ICS Advising Team collects a running list of local internships for students to apply for. Feel free to check the list periodically. We also encourage student to follow the ACM Mānoa Discord as internship opportunities are posted there as well. Additionally, students may also search for internships on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor. If you need assistance in searching for internship opportunities, please do not hesitate to meet with an academic advisor. Lastly, the Career in Tech & Intelligence Fair is held every semester to connect students with internship and employment opportunities. The career fair is held in October and February.
