Students, parents, and other members of the ICS/LIS ʻohana,

Welcome to our new ICS students in Fall 2020, and welcome back to returning students. Fall 2020 is going to be another challenging semester for all of us. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our routines and will mean yet another few months of caution. Please help us all stay healthy by following campus guidelines.

The University of Hawaii has allowed professors to choose the mode of instruction they prefer for their courses in Fall 2020. In ICS, all courses this Fall are being offered either online or in a hybrid mode. We promise to deliver the same quality education in this new and challenging mode. Like you, we can not wait to return to the classroom.

Unfortunately, the ICSpace will remained closed in Fall. The types of social gatherings and group work that were so enjoyable in that space are prohibited for the time being. We will do our best to replace these activities with online events and opportunities for socializing and working together.

I welcome you to contact me personally with any issues that arise.

COVID-19 has us on the ropes at the moment, but we will come back as strong as ever. In the meantime, let’s count on each other to keep our friends, family, fellow students, and other members of the campus community healthy.

Sincerely,Scott Robertson
