ACADEMICS

ICS offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees: a BA in Information and Computer Sciences, a BS in Computer Science, a BS in Computer Engineering, an MS in Computer Science, an MLISc in Library and Information Science, and a PhD in Computer Science. We also participate in the interdisciplinary PhD in Communication and Information Sciences. For more information, see the “Academics” menu item.

RESEARCH

The department has over 40 faculty members, conducting research in areas including: algorithms, artificial intelligence, biomedical informatics and bioinformatics, computational neuroscience, computer vision, databases, human-computer interaction, networks, robotics, security, software engineering, and visualization. COMMUNITY

The ICS Department actively seeks to nurture the local and national high tech communities, and to create opportunities outside of our curriculum for students to develop their professional skills. For more information, see the “Community” menu item.

The mission of the Information and Computer Sciences Department is to nurture a world-class community of students and faculty dedicated to innovative scientific and information-related research and education for the benefit of the participants, Hawaii, the United States, and the world.
