Play: "Inside Out", The Actors Group (through 2/22/2009)

INSIDE OUT is a sharp, contemporary comedy which pits academic idealism against office politics and intertwines romantic misadventure with global crises.

INSIDE OUT, a comedy by Hawaii writer Richard Tillotson that was a  National Finalist for the Christopher Brian Wolk Playwriting Award  in New York, will receive its World Premiere on January 30th at TAG  - The Actors Group, 1116 Smith Street, in downtown Honolulu.

INSIDE OUT is a sharp, contemporary comedy which pits academic idealism against office politics and intertwines romantic  misadventure with global crises. The play begins with four PhD.  candidates studying problems of the developing world who learn three  of their research grants must be cut. Suddenly issues of limited  resources that had seemed academic and remote become intensely real  and personal. As the fates of the four competitors hang in the  balance, both students and administrators reveal their true colors,  with surprising consequences.

The show runs through Sunday, February 22nd.

From Dan Suthers:  This is not in the usual category of events announced on this list, but I enjoyed it so much I thought I'd let you know. The Actors Group is currently producing a play by a local writer, Richard Tillotson, called Inside Out. It is about four PhD students and their advisor in an interdisciplinary PhD program involving "cultural values and the ethics of development". Funding for a program expected to fund the students has been cut, and the faculty must choose one of the four students ... rather timely, eh? The cast is great, and faculty and students alike will find something they can relate to.
