Student/intern position for the summer, and possibly beyond

PipelineFX, a software development company specializing in render farm management systems for the computer entertainment (including animation, gaming, and visual effects) industry, is looking for technical interns for the summer of '08.  This summer position is part-time, but may potentially extend beyond just the summer, and even scale to a full time employment in the future.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Excellent communication skills are also essential.

The intern will directly assist and report to our development team, and will be primarily responsible for setting up and maintaining platforms for testing our products. The intern may also be tasked with the actual testing (QA), some technical documentation, and programming/scripting projects.

Tasks:

• Configure and maintain computer platforms for our build/test farm, including OS installation and setup, application licensing, and physically moving equipment around and hooking them up.
• Assisting with QA and testing operations, including ocumentation.
• Maintain website and update wiki.
• Internal System administration (e.g. application installs/troubleshooting, license/mail/ftp server maintenance, debug networking issues)
• Programming and scripting projects, as applicable.
  

Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills required.
• Some system administration experience with Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows highly desirable.
• Scripting (perl, python, sh, etc.) and programming knowledge a big plus.
• Experience with CG 2D/3D applications (Maya, XSI, 3DS Max, Shake, Nuke, After Effects, etc.) an asset.
• Experience with databases (e.g. MySQL) an asset.
